You might remember Tobias Kirmayer's label Tramp Records, and especially the fantastic Hungarian jazz, funk and afro from The Qualitons, a Budapest collective assembled by DJ/producer Kanadakaosz, inspired by bands such as The Whitefield Brothers... After a first introductory mix, DJ Kanadakaosz, who's also a member of the DJ/digger team specialized in hungarian records Budapest BrakeCsokkerz, is back with this amazing mix of vintage Hungarian Psybeat from the 60s and the 70s, and I'm quite certain you've never heard this before!!

The Natural Yogurt Band - The Natural Yogurt Mix

The Natural Yogurt Band - The Natural Yogurt Mix
(MP3 Podcast on ParisDJs.com and MusiquesImpures.com) 2011-05-12

In 2008 Jazzman records released Away with Melancholy, a fantastic first record from a mysterious band called The Natural Yogurt Band. Actually the band was a Nottingham (UK) duo formed by Wayne Fullwood (drums, bass) and Miles Newbold (keyboards, flute, vibes and other unusual instruments). This indescribable and cult album sounded like a jamband, psychedelic movie soundtracks and acid jazz simultaneously. Three years later The Natural Yogurt Band is back with Tuck In With... (Now-Again), an outstanding follow-up to their first record. Miles Newbold selected a few tracks for this mix in his vinyl collection, from soulful jazzy flute to rare forgotten masters' tunes. He was kind enough to add some unreleased tracks from his other project called The Sign of Four and Audio Optics. The whole thing is groovy, fun and weird as The Natural Yogurt Band itself, and Nicolas from the Musiques Impures blog has published an exclusive interview of the band to go along with this mix...

Tracklisting :
01. Ady Zehnpfennig - Easter Afternoon
(from 'Dr. Bohm Panorama-Sound' album, 1974 / Europaton)
02. Joe Haider - Last Time

(from 'Waitaminute' album, 1973 / MPS)
04. Galt MacDermot - Bedroom
(from 'The Nucleus' album, 1971 / Kilmarnock)
05. Kenny Graham and His Satellites - Fog On The Hudson
(from 'Moondog And Suncat Suite' album, 1956 / MGM)
06. Jeremy Steig - In The Beginning
(from 'Wayfaring Stranger' album, 1970 / Blue Note)
07. Roland Kirk - A Quote From Clifford Brown
(from 'I Talk With The Spirits' album, 1965 / Limelight)

Philadelphia's Big Pimp Jones have become quite big on the 21st Blaxploitation tip, with their two funky soundtracks to Blaxploitation movies that dont exist (Bad Bad Jimmy Ruckus and Jimmy Ruckus and the Five Fingers of Death).
