Paris DJs Soundsystem - Who Is Molesting Laura ? (part 4)
Paris DJs Soundsystem presents Who Is Molesting Laura ? (part 4)
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) T.I.M.E.C., 2009-03-29

A high-octane selection of psychedelic covers, ranging from latin funk to free jazz, soul and mostly rock. The soulful heavy kind of rock you'd be expecting from us. Laura gets hit in the face. Ten times over. Don't say you don't like it like that... Props to Soul Sugar for giving us those rare 45s - when is the album coming? Props to Tobias Kirmayer and his Tramp and Perfect Toy labels too - this Boogoos single is so good we played both sides in our mixes - when is the album happening? Finally, props to Nick/Record Kicks - we haven't finished picking on this marvelous Trio Valore album yet...

Paris DJs Soundsystem presents Free The Robots
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) T.I.M.E.C., 2009-03-22

Free The Robots, alias Chris Alfaro (with the help of keyboardist/guitarist Phil Nisco), comes from Santa Ana, California, and is just one of the most interesting DJ/beatmakers around! He's mostly released tracks on cult labels, very limited editions, with incredible artwork, on Obey Records particularly (along with The Gaslamp Killer and his super heavy beats), on Eadsel in Japan, on Jazz and Milk or Equinox in Germany, with a new album coming soon on Alpha Pup... Expect instrumental hip hop fusing breakbeats with psychedelia, prog rock, obscure samples, old jazz, blues, trip hop, soul and electronic bits. This is the new thing!

Paris DJs Soundsystem - Is That Jazz ?
Paris DJs Soundsystem - Is That Jazz?
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) T.I.M.E.C., 2009-03-11

This mix started as a 'Hip Hop vs Jazz' mix and soon evolved into a '21st Century Swing' selection. But then we figured we really loved our b-boy caps and decided to go towards turntablism, playing around with jazz samples and more cut'n'paste of swinging beats. Props to Ali B of Air Recordings for releasing such quality 45s - we played one in this mix and licenced two others for the 'It's The New Hip Hop Thing' compilation out now (Vibrations/Harmonia Mundi)! More friendly UK labels are here too with Belleruche from Tru Thoughts and Mike-L from First Word. May they all keep on sending us such quality music...

Grant Phabao and Djouls - 21st Century Afro Vol.5
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) T.I.M.E.C., 2009-03-09

Our world tour of African music continues in the form of a greatest hits selection from the last two years, with supa-dupa audio mastering by Grant Phabao (as usual). The Mehanan Street Band 'Make The Road By Walking' is an instant classic of instrumental funk and soul. We said that before. The Budos Band album 'Budos Band II' is an instant classic of cinematic afro and funk. That too. The Souljazz Orchestra album 'Manifesto' will be enjoyed by all fans of Fela and James Brown. Yep. We've been harrassing you about the SJO quite much. Have we already played and praised the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble brilliance in these pages? Think so. Didn't we already play a track from the Afro Influenced Funk Federation in our latest 21st Century Afro mix? Yes we did. And The Polyversal Souls is just another disguise for The Poets Of Rhythm (alias Karl Hector and The Malcouns), who are featured, like, every month here...
