Paris DJs Soundsystem - Who Is Molesting Laura ? (part 8) (MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) 2009-08-26 We received many messages of hope that we'd keep on accosting, assailling, abusing, disturbing and more maltreating of our dear Laura. Here's the JAZZ take on the story. If you're into tasty covers of classics, into Jazz or even into Stevie or Sly Stone, you should find the kind of stuff you enjoy, in this soundtrack to the life of a perpetually molested girl! Tracklisting : 01. Ed Maciel E Sua Orquestra - Michelle (from 'Na Onda' album, 1966 / London Records) Beautifully arranged big band cover of The Beatles, if anyone's got the Volumes 4/6/7/8/9/10 or 11 of the Na Onda series from Ed Maciel please share... more info on loronix.blogspot.com 02. Earl Grant - Fever (from 'The Versatile Earl Grant' album, 1958 / Decca) Earl Grant's recordings rarely included his vocals, most of them are instrumental Jazz and Organ music, here's a rare vocal take, his unique rendition of the Jazz Classic Fever. more info on wikipedia.org 03. Dennis Chambers - In Time (from 'Outbreak' album, 2002 / ESC Records) The funk and jazz-rock drums virtuoso kills it all here with this non-revolutionnary but technically flawless Sly and The Family Stone cover. more info on dennischambers.com or on wikipedia.org 04. Quincy Jones - Superstition (from 'You've Got It Bad Girl' album, 1973 / A and M) It's hard to tire of cool Stevie Wonder covers. Charles Kynard - Superstition (from 'Your Mama Don't Dance' album, 1973 / Mainstream) The same Stevie cover, taken from another fantastic album, and featuring an incredible set of musicians too: Chuck Rainey on bass, Arthur Adams on guitar, Paul Humphreys on drums, George Bohannon on trombone, and, of course, the mighty Charles Kynard on organ. Make it funky jazz! more info on soundsfromthefunkygoat.blogspot.com 06. Blue Mitchell, Roy Haynes, Charles Kynard and Charles Williams - Family Affair (from 'Booty' album, 1974 / Mainstream) Here's another marvel taken from the Mainstream Records discography (if you don't know this label yet get into it now!), and another cool soul funky jazz Sly Stone cover for your ears. more info on myjazzworld.blogspot.com 07. Dee Dee Bridgewater - Sex Machine (from 'Live at Yoshi's' album, 2000 / Verve) Recorded at the legendary Bay Area jazz club on April 1998 in Oakland, this electrifying scat take on James Brown's classic is exhuberantly full of life and sheer energy.
